OEMER Motori: Eight Decades of Reliable Electric Motor Solutions

Twenty five kilometres north of Milan, in the quiet industrial town of Rescaldina, sits a factory that has been doing something quietly extraordinary for over seven decades. OEMER Motori Elettrici S.p.A. has been manufacturing high performance industrial electric motors since 1949 before the Italian economic miracle, before the digital revolution, and long before energy efficiency became an industry buzzword, they were already solving for it.

This company was found by Ambrogio Landonio, a true self made man open to every kind of innovation, who immediately grasped the fundamental role that the electric motor would come to play in the economic and technological development of modern industry. Today, the company continues under the Landonio family, with Franco Landonio serving as Managing Director carrying forward a philosophy rooted in precision engineering, continuous investment, and a refusal to settle for standard when custom is what the customer actually needs.

When Two Industry Leaders Sit Down Together

On the sidelines of Plast 2026, Mr. Ginu Joseph, Editor and Chief of Modern Plastics India and Vice President of the Global Plastics Association had the opportunity to sit down directly with Franco Landonio, Managing Director of OEMER, for a conversation that was as candid as it was illuminating. Speaking with the authority of a man who has spent his entire professional life inside this industry, Landonio walked through OEMER’s evolution from its earliest DC motor days through the bold pivot to frequency regulated AC technology in the 1990s, and into the company’s present focus on highly customised, application specific solutions for the plastics and rubber sector. What came through clearly was not just technical depth, but a genuine conviction that the relationship between a motor manufacturer and a machine builder should be a partnership one built on shared understanding of what the application actually demands, not simply a transaction. For the readers of Modern Plastics India, who operate in one of the world’s most rapidly expanding plastics manufacturing markets, it was the kind of direct access to a decision-maker that rarely makes it onto a trade show floor and a reminder that behind every great machine, there is a motor, and behind every great motor company, there is a person who genuinely cares about getting it right.

The Range That Covers Every Demand

The production of components and the assembly of motors takes place at the Rescaldina factory, where machining centres, numerically controlled lathes, automatic winders, and robots are used to continuously improve the quality of the products. A modern and complete test bench is used during different stages of production for both testing and quality control. The quality system is certified according to ISO 9001. The product catalogue is broad, precise, and built for real world industrial punishment. They develop different motor technologies to address a wide spectrum of industrial needs, from high-speed applications to high torque, low speed operations, induction asynchronous motors from 0.5 to 1100 kW, permanent magnet synchronous motors from 1.5 to 200 kW, direct drive torque motors from 2.5 to 500 kW, and synchronous reluctance motors from 0.3 to 400 kW.

The flagship SINCROVERT series deserves particular attention. In the early 1990s, the company patented and introduced its universal SINCROVERT solution, a highly efficient servo drive and making it one of the first manufacturers to completely abandon DC machine development in favour of devoting all resources to electric motors for frequency regulation and servomotors. That was a brave call at that time, the market has since confirmed it was the right one. For the plastics and extrusion industry specifically, they developed something even more targeted. The LTS TB series torque motor was specifically designed and built to be used as the main motor for screw rotation in plastic extruders, featuring an oversized high quality thrust bearing lubricated by oil and liquid cooling of the external structure to guarantee optimal heat dissipation and constant performance. This is not a general purpose motor adapted for extrusion, it was designed from the ground up for that exact application.

Serving the Industries That Keep the World Moving

The organisation serve applications today cover power generation, engineering, food processing, lightweight textile, packaging, glass, woodworking, paper, metallurgy, cable making, metalworking, chemical, and medical industries. That breadth is not accidental, it is the result of 75 years of accumulated application knowledge, translated into motors that understand the conditions they operate in. They have been supplying electric motors to leading machinery manufacturers in Europe, Asia, and North America for over fifty years, developing specific configurations capable of ensuring stable performance even under continuous duty cycles, high torque demands, and variable speed control. When an extrusion line in Germany, an injection moulding facility in India, or a packaging plant in North America needs a motor that simply will not let the line down and that is frequently the name behind the nameplate.

At Plast Milan 2026, Where the Right Conversations Happen

PLAST 2026, held at Fiera Milano from 9 to 12 June, brought together the global plastics and rubber machinery ecosystem in one place. For a company whose motors sit at the heart of extruders, injection moulding machines, and compounding lines made by the world’s leading builders, events like PLAST are not optional. They are where the next decade of partnerships are quietly decided, where engineers meet engineers, and where the reputation that this firm has spent 75 years building gets to speak for itself in person.

The Reason Serious Manufacturers Keep Specifying OEMER

The motor is the one component in any production machine that cannot afford to fail. Everything else like the controls, the tooling, and the software can be adjusted, upgraded, or worked around. The motor either runs or it doesn’t. That is precisely why the manufacturers, who want, choose this company. Highly qualified staff, advanced technology, and continuous investments in systems and equipment when combined with flexibility in production are the factors that enable OEMER to develop new products with high quality standards and reliability in a short timeframe and critically, full in house control of the production process allows the development of customised solutions from both electrical and mechanical perspectives, ensuring effective integration even in complex machinery and specific operating conditions. In an era where energy costs are never far from the boardroom agenda and production uptime is everything, a motor manufacturer that has been refining its craft since 1949 that designs custom solutions without flinching, that tests every unit before it ships, and that has built a global distribution network spanning three continents is not a vendor. It’s a strategic asset. OEMER has earned that status, one motor at a time.
