Karsan Targets Electric Midibus Leadership in Italy in 2023!

Karsan had signed a framework agreement for 80 e-ATAK buses with the Italian public procurement company Consip in 2021, and now has received another 27 e-ATAK order within the scope of this agreement for the first electric vehicles of Start Romagna, one of the country’s largest operators. Thus, Karsan continues to be the preferred brand regarding the electric vehicle transformation. Expressing that Karsan was the leader of the electric midibus segment in Europe in 2021, Karsan’s CEO Okan Baş said, “With this order, it seems that e-ATAK will be the leader of electric midibus segment in Italy in 2023 as well. Italy has a quite significant role in the transformation of electric public transportation in Europe. And Karsan is one of the forerunner brands of this transformation. With the new order for Start Romagna following the Consip and TPER 18-meter e-ATA orders we had previously received, Karsan’s electric vehicle park in Italy next year will exceed 150 in total. Thus, we will be one of the most powerful brands in this market.”

Karsan, which has signed agreements to further strengthen its structuring in Europe in line with its goals, continues to cement its presence in Italy, one of the most important countries in Europe regarding the transformation of electric public transportation. Karsan that signed a framework agreement for 80 e-ATAK buses with Consip in 2021, an Italian public procurement company, also received the orders of 55 e-ATAK buses in total from different operators within the scope of this agreement. Adding a new one to these orders, Karsan will produce and export 27 e-ATAK buses for Start Romagna, which will be first electric buses in their fleet.

With this order, which will be delivered in 2023, Karsan has received all the orders related to the framework agreement signed with Consip for 80 e-ATAK buses in 2021. Stating that Karsan was the leader of the electric midibus segment in Europe in 2021, the CEO Okan Baş said, “With this order, e-ATAK already seems to be the leader of the electric midibus segment in Italy in 2023 as well.” Emphasizing that Karsan’s electric vehicles will serve all over Italy in 2023, Okan Baş said, “The Italian automotive market has very important role in the transformation of electric public transport in Europe.
