Universities Are Defined by Their Alumni, Not Infrastructure: CM Devendra Fadnavis
At the Global Alumni Meet ‘Udaan 2025–26’ of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU), held on 21st December 2025. Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis delivered a powerful message on the true measure of a university’s success—its alumni.
Addressing a distinguished gathering of alumni, academicians, industry leaders, and students at the Kavikulguru Kalidas Auditorium, IT Park, Persistent Systems, the Chief Minister remarked that universities earn their reputation through the achievements and values of their alumni, rather than the scale of their infrastructure. He emphasized that alumni serve as lifelong ambassadors of their institutions, contributing significantly to innovation, industry leadership, and national development.
The two-day global meet, organised by the LITU Alumni Association (LITAA), aimed to strengthen alumni engagement and foster meaningful collaboration between academia and industry. The event celebrated the diverse accomplishments of LITU alumni across sectors while inspiring the next generation of technologists and innovators.
A major highlight of the occasion was the conferment of the Lifetime Achievement Award on Mr. Deepak Lawale, Secretary General, Organization of Plastics Processors of India (OPPI) and a distinguished alumnus of LIT. The award was presented by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in recognition of Mr. Lawale’s outstanding contributions to the plastics processing industry and his sustained efforts in bridging industry and academia.
‘Udaan 2025–26’ stood as a testament to the enduring bond between LITU and its alumni, reaffirming the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership driven by a strong and engaged alumni community.
