The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), the leading authority in sustainable printing certifications for print manufacturers, announced the public review of the new SGP Supplier certification is extended to October 15, 2020.

The criteria for SGP Supplier certification are similar to the criteria for SGP Printers in that they specify the requirements for management and production operations that define sustainable practices encompassing the economics, environmental and social areas of sustainability. The draft criteria document, based on its successful printer certification efforts, defines the core elements of its certification program including development and adoption of a sustainability management system (SMS) and best practices.

“Due the current COVID-19 situation, the public review period of the SGP Supplier certification criteria is extended. We feel it is important to give suppliers to the printing industry additional time to review the new SGP Supplier certification criteria. The program has the potential to improve the sustainability of the printing industry dramatically,” said Jodi Sawyer, SGP Executive Committee, and Flexcon representative. “Certified printers have far-reaching, positive environmental and social impacts. Now with our new supplier certification we will help extend that impact into the printing industry. Through the certification, suppliers will be productive and profitable while at the same time help provide a more sustainable future.”

During the public review, you have the opportunity to comment and suggest any additions or revisions to the criteria. The criteria document is on the SGP website. In addition to the public comment phase, SGP is conducting an online survey about the SGP Supplier certification.
